Marie Fonrose, Ph.D., LCPC

Dr. Marie Fonrose earned a Ph.D. in Psychology from Saybrook University, a M.A. from Bowie State University, and a B.S. in Biological Sciences from University of Maryland. Marie has over 25 years of experience in the areas of counseling, educational consulting, teaching, and special education. She has worked extensively in the areas of college consulting assisting students to find the best college that suits their career ambition. Dr. Fonrose is an Associate Professor at Central Michigan University and an adjunct at Prince Georges Community College. Most notably, Dr. Fonrose has worked and continues to work closely with partner organizations since the earthquake in Haiti, providing services to earthquake victims in the areas of leadership training and post-traumatic stress disorders. She holds licenses and certifications as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Maryland (LCPC), Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia (LPC), National Board Certification Teacher (NBCT), and School Counselor Certification in DC. Additionally, she is a certified Prepare/Enrich Facilitator and is ready to equip you with the tools to thrive in your relationship. Dr. Fonrose is an approved Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor Supervisor for Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC). Dr. Fonrose specializes in individual, child and adolescent, pre-marital and marital Counseling, group,coaching, and maintains a private practice in Maryland. Dr. Fonrose counsels primarily from a cognitive-behavioral and psycho-dynamic orientation. However, she draws from various approaches recognizing the uniqueness of each individual. Dr. Fonrose's therapeutic approach is to provide a warm, caring and safe environment where clients can address the obstacles that keep them from enjoying the most fulfilling life and reaching their highest goal--health. Dr. Fonrose is able to serve clients in English, French, and Haitian-Creole. She has a good grasp of Spanish. Dr. Fonrose welcomes you into this space and look forward to the journey ahead. Dr. Fonrose is a Minister at HCC and can offer Christian Counseling to those who have a preference for it.
